This time was much different. Ft. Delaware is actually a really cool place. We were able to talk to a bunch of actors and see most of what the Fort had to offer. We also knew from last time to stay away from the demonstrations because Chris does not like the sound when they fire the weapons.
My favorite part was watching the blacksmith work. He made a hook in about 5 minutes. Then as we were leaving he gave each of the boys a nail that he made earlier. They are pretty cool.
We were trying to kill a few minutes while waiting for the wagon to take us back to the ferry. So we entered some underground tunnels. We are not really sure what they were but wondered into one of the areas that they used to fire cannons. When we decided to head out we left through a different exit then we entered. We wound up on the other side of the Fort. It took us a second to figure out where we were. Then we started heading towards the ferry. The actors were in the middle of the square giving a mortar demonstration. They had roped off most of the square so people could not go near the area they were firing towards. We took about three steps and one of the actors comes over to us and says "You can't watch the demonstration from over here. You have to be on the other side of the rope."
I told Ken that I felt like a Griswold in the situation. We suddenly just emerged in an area that we were not supposed to be and had no clue we were not supposed to be there. It was pretty funny. Ken did inform me after I told him I felt like a Griswold that we were the Griswolds.
