We Love Silly

I just have some random silly pictures to share taken over the last week. Except for the last one that I had to use again. It was taken on the 4th of July.

That is Ryan behind the curtains and blinds watching for lightening.

Ryan running around one morning laughing with his shirt on crazy. He actually asked me to take his picture! He had no problem making his shirt look like this but couldn't figure out how to fix it when the time came that he was bored.

Then here are my animals! Who said dogs and cats don't get along?

On a different note Ken and I got new cell phones yesterday. We officially have entered the world of text messaging! Guess who my first text ever was to?

My dad!

Delaware State Fair

We headed to the Delaware State Fair today and had a good time. They had so many neat things that we must had missed the last two years because it was all new to us. As soon as we walked in they had a giant Thomas the Train area. The boys got their picture taken with Thomas by someone from the newspaper. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open to see if their picture makes it.

They had a lot of "Green" exhibits this year. This one was great. You could peddle a bike to see how much energy you can produce. It was so funny watching Ken because his facial expressions are always so exaggerated. Peddling the bike was pretty tough though, much harder then the bikes we ride on the road.

Then Chris about amazed me. He had been talking for about a week about taking his brother on a roller coaster. Now Chris hates most rides. So the talk about the roller coaster really surprised me. Of course Chris found the smallest roller coaster around to take his brother on. After that they went on the swings. I love in this picture that the boys are looking at each other and smiling. I wish it would have came out clear.

After about an hour more of different rides Ken and I wanted to play some games. We headed away from the kiddie rides and Chris surprised both of us by asking to go on the big swings. It didn't look like he was having much fun but he got off and ran back in line!

It was pretty amazing. If the boys didn't agree on the same ride they went on separate rides by themselves and Ryan never got upset that he couldn't go on some of the rides that Chris could.

Except for the ride home we had a wonderful time. We kept the boys up way too late and Ryan really had a melt down on the way out. He was screaming to get out of his stroller then when we got to the car he was screaming to get back in his stroller. He wouldn't sit still to get in his car seat. We eventually held him down to strap him in his car seat. He continued the melt down so we decided to pull over about 5 minutes outside the fair. I held him and it helped him to calm down. He fell asleep in my arms but when I put him back in the car seat the melt down started again. Lesson learned, knowledge earned...When Ryan becomes overtired nothing can make him happy.

Trophy Day

Today Chris's baseball team had a little pizza party and received their trophies.

I really should have taken some pictures before the handing out of the trophies because I knew I would get the best smile from Chris right after, while he was still excited. By the time I adjusted my camera to have a somewhat decent picture Chris was telling me "no more pictures."

So basically his first trophy pictures are a flop. This was his face once I got the camera on a better setting.

Oh well, he is still excited to have his very first trophy.

Zodiac Signs

Anita came with her boys to visit this weekend.

We didn't do too much besides enjoy each others company. We headed out Saturday with 5 destinations in mind. Unfortunately 3 of the 5 destinations were closed. Good thing Dover is a small city so we did not spend all of our time simply driving without seeing anything. We headed to get ice cream for the boys and saw that they had carriage rides through part of the Amish area. So we did that.

Well, while they were here John and I somehow got into talking about Zodiac Signs. We found a website on the internet and read all about his sign. So today I decided to find out what my boys signs are.

Ryan is a Scorpio.

Scorpios are:
Determined and forceful
Emotional and intuitive
Powerful and passionate
Exciting and magnetic

I thought this was pretty funny because I was sitting on the computer looking this up while Chris was doing his chores. Ryan asked to sit on my lap. I told him he could but had to get up really quick. When I came back to the computer to see what his sign said he wouldn't let me sit down. I picked him up and put him on my lap. He immediately started crying, trying to move me from the seat while screaming that he was there first. Determined...yes, Forceful....yes, Emotional...yes, Passionate...yes, Exciting...yes. Don't these traits basically describe any 2 year old?

Then I looked up Chris's sign. He is a Leo.

Leos are:
Generous and warmhearted
Creative and enthusiastic
Broad-minded and expansive
Faithful and loving

Chris is definitely creative and enthusiastic. Just watch him play with his tinker toys, blocks and cars. He is generous and warmhearted. He is always willing to share or give something up to make someone else happy. If he is not willing to give something up he will change the situation so everyone is happy. Just like today he finally got enough coupons to get a toy back. He picked his tinker toys and I know in the last week he has been creating different ideas in his mind for his tinker toys. Well, he went into his room and his brother followed. Chris didn't want his brother in there so after a little bit of crying on both parts Chris decided to come downstairs and play the Wii with his brother. Therefore, his brother is happy playing with him and Chris does not have to share his tinker toys, he will save that for Ryan's quite time. Faithful and loving...what 5 year old his not faithful and loving towards his family? Again, I think these traits describe every 5 year old.

Still Silly

This is how Ryan came downstairs this morning.

Killian's Pond

We took the boys to Killian's Pond Water Park. Boy did they have a blast.

Chris made it across the lily pads this time. Ken tried to go over them too but didn't make it. Of course he blamed it on me because I was laughing so hard at him. He was the only adult in line and most of the kids going over were under the age of 10!

Ryan had a blast too on the kiddie slides they had at the park.

Ken and I didn't have as much fun as the boys. Since there were so many people Ken and I each took a kid to look after. Ken took Chris to the bigger pool and I stayed with Ryan while he played in the kiddie pool. I finally was able to talk Ryan into going into the bigger pool because I was melting in the 90+ degree heat.

The Clothes Basket

Have you ever thought how much fun a clothes basket is to play with? Ryan found out just how fun it was the other day when he hid under it.

People keep telling me that they think he is tall for his age. However, last time we went to the doctors he was in the 50% for height. I never realized though that he was small enough still to hide under the basket.

Then my boy, who always hides for pictures, asked me to take his picture standing in the basket. Since he spends a ton of time naked from the waist down to potty train you are just going to have a believe me that he is standing in a basket.

He had good fun playing with this basket that morning.

I swear these pictures prove that my kids don't need as many toys as they have. One day I am going to get rid of the majority of the toys in the basement. I really am. It might be the day that they no longer need or want them....but I promise my kids are not going to have as many toys as they currently have ever again!

Ft. Delaware Again

We decided to try to go to Ft. Delaware again. Last year when we went Chris was so tired that we stayed for a short time before heading home.

This time was much different. Ft. Delaware is actually a really cool place. We were able to talk to a bunch of actors and see most of what the Fort had to offer. We also knew from last time to stay away from the demonstrations because Chris does not like the sound when they fire the weapons.

My favorite part was watching the blacksmith work. He made a hook in about 5 minutes. Then as we were leaving he gave each of the boys a nail that he made earlier. They are pretty cool.

We were trying to kill a few minutes while waiting for the wagon to take us back to the ferry. So we entered some underground tunnels. We are not really sure what they were but wondered into one of the areas that they used to fire cannons. When we decided to head out we left through a different exit then we entered. We wound up on the other side of the Fort. It took us a second to figure out where we were. Then we started heading towards the ferry. The actors were in the middle of the square giving a mortar demonstration. They had roped off most of the square so people could not go near the area they were firing towards. We took about three steps and one of the actors comes over to us and says "You can't watch the demonstration from over here. You have to be on the other side of the rope."

I told Ken that I felt like a Griswold in the situation. We suddenly just emerged in an area that we were not supposed to be and had no clue we were not supposed to be there. It was pretty funny. Ken did inform me after I told him I felt like a Griswold that we were the Griswolds.

Independance Weekend

We spent the weekend at my parents house. On the 4th we headed at a small festival near their house. The paper made it seem bigger then it actually was. This slide was considered a ride along with a bouncy castle.

Also at the festival the boys participated in slot car racing. Chris didn't get the hang of letting off the gas when it had to go around a turn. Luckily there were guys at the turns putting the car back on the track for him.

The boys were also able to do some Spin Art. These activities were literally the highlights of the festival.

(Oh yeah, did I specify which boys got to do it?)

We headed home and later that night we went out on the boat to see some fireworks. We caught many different fireworks from a distance but never saw an entire show. We did happen to drive past as one place was putting on the finale so we stopped and watched.

The next day we headed to Pt. Pleasant to meet up with Tracey, Lou and Veronica.

The boys love Tracey and just wanted to play and be near her the entire time.

After the beach we headed to the boardwalk to get something to eat. Here are Ken and I at our finest!

Overall we had a really nice weekend.

What A Difference!

What a huge difference a clean lens makes? Who would have thought :)
My subjects were limited and only the dog and cat were really willing, but I think that is because they didn't know I was going to take their picture.

The pictures still come out blurry though when I try to get someone in motion. I don't think that is a clean lens issue though.

Isn't the difference amazing?!?!?!?!?!

Bowling

We took the kids bowling today. After a difficult start for Christopher he was able to turn it around and we all had a great time.

Ryan was so funny. He would push his ball down the lane and then just walk away. He really didn't care about how many pins were knocked down. He was truly having fun.

I love the form Chris uses. He runs as fast as he can and sends the ball down the lane. Here he is just after he let go of the ball to get a strike.

And his reaction after he got a spare.

Ken got two strikes in a row and I took a picture of him going for a turkey.

And guess what??????

He choked!
Ken was not able to scare as many pins down today as normal (he throws the ball so hard) but overall we all got good scores.

I really really need to clean the lens of my camera. Hopefully better pictures will soon follow! I just can't seem to keep the little fingers off the camera. Once again, I found more pictures I didn't take. Now if only the boys would smile like this for me when I take a picture!
