Cape Henlopen
We decided we wanted to take the kids for a bike ride today since Ryan has become a great bike rider. This afternoon we decided to go to Cape Henlopen and the boys would ride their bikes while Ken and I rollerbladed.
We arrived and knew that they had a 3.5 mile bike loop that we wanted to do. However we really couldn't figure out where we were on the map. So we just found a path and went. We went up a couple hills found a nice lookout point and found Ft. Miles. We explored Ft. Miles a little bit but couldn't do much because Ken and I were on rollerblades.
We returned to our car and I looked at the map. I eventually figured out the route we took. (It is outlined in yellow)

Since we didn't know just on the other side of the bend was where our car was when we decided to return we turned and went back the way we came! We figured the boys rode about 4 miles today! Can you believe that? Ryan just learned to ride his bike a week ago! Not once did either boy complain. They both said they had a great time.
Well, before we left we wanted to figure out where we were on the map. We drove around in our car and found this look out tower, which is part of Ft. Miles.

We all made it to the top. Ken had to carry Ryan down. However before we even started our decent down Chris decided that he was going down and coming right back up. So Chris and I made the journey up the stairs again. It was amazing how high the tower actually was and how many stairs there were. It didn't seem like their were enough stairs to actually get to the top of where we were.
It turned out to be a wonderful day. I can't wait to return and explore the park a little more. It seems like a great place to camp and spend the weekend!

Toy Story
Yesterday we decided to have a movie night. The kids and I never saw the movie Toy Story. I wanted to see the movie and thought the kids would enjoy it.
We put our table cloth on the floor and all had dinner while watching the movie.

Chris said he did not like the movie after it was over. However, he kept jumping up and standing in front of the TV while it was on. We must have told him 15 times that we couldn't see. Silly boy, I know he enjoyed the movie.

Ryan's Birthday
Ryan celebrated his 3rd birthday last week. Actually, he celebrated it for about 2 weeks. The week before we went to my parents house for his birthday. I took pictures with my Dad's camera and didn't upload them before I left.
Anyhow, here is Ryan's face when he woke up in the morning. He saw his bike with the balloons all around it.
Ryan had to leave the bike in the house because we had such bad rain that day and the next.
However on Sunday it cleared up and Dad was able to take Ryan outside to show him how to peddle his bike. Ryan got it very quickly. I was amazed because as we were trying bikes out in the store he could not figure out how to peddle them and also the days the bike stayed in the house Ryan could not figure out how to make it move. However, now he is an expert!
Happy Belated Birthday Ryan!

He Finally Gets It
We started our day off today by heading the Urgent Care to have Chris's hand looked at. It turned out to be fine and the doctor declared it was just sprained. She gave him a brace and sent him on his merry way. One cool thing about the visit was that the x-ray technician gave Chris a copy of his x-rays! Chris asked for a copy and we thought she was just going to print them on an 8x10 piece of paper. I have to say that it is pretty cool. Of course Chris can't wait for his next special day at school to show all the kids in his class.
We then headed to the mall to get lunch. Walden Books has a table set up in the middle of the mall with cheaper books. As we were walking by I saw this

Remembering my mom told me these were great books to learn to read I picked it up. Chris read the first couple pages to me and I bought the book.
After dinner we sat down and read the first book in our compilation.

I love the book. The words constantly repeat themselves and the words in the book were the same words Chris is learning in school. But the best thing about the book is the pictures. Chris and I laughed and laughed at the pictures. The book kept his interest, he was excited to turn the page and he wanted to read more and more. Sounds to me like a good book. What more could a 6 year old want from a book?
