Big Bucks Coming My Way!!!!!

Yep, that's right...I think I could be coming into money in the near future!

We headed down to Ocean City, Maryland yesterday. While on the beach I saw some guy walk up to two girls that were hanging out next to our little camp. He started having these girls pose and then started taking pictures of them! It was pretty funny, to the point that I thought Candid Camera was going to appear any minute. He had the pregnant gal lay down on top of her friend, who also happened to be a girl. Ken had heard the girls tell the guy that they were "BFF's"

When he finished the photo shoot he turned to us and asked to take our pictures too. I said "no, thank you." But Ken, as he was walking away to get in the water, told the guy to take pictures of the boys. After thinking about it, it was a good job by Ken because he knows that I love this stuff and I forgot my camera. After the guy left I was actually a little mad that I didn't have him take a picture of the entire family, since I forgot my camera and it was our first time in Ocean City. Plus I didn't notice any photo booths around!

So we arrived at the shop to see the product and not one of the pictures the man took was different then any of the pictures I have taken before at the beach. Even the smiles the boys gave the man were the smiles I have a hundred pictures of already. So, we were in the store and there was a cute picture of the boys looking out to the ocean (nothing special) so we inquired about the prices. For an 8x10 piece of photo paper (you can get whatever size photo on it with multiples if it is smaller then 8x10) it was 19.99+tax!!!!!

We left the store empty handed and it was then that I realized that some day I am going to be a photographer, of people willing to overpay, on some beach! I told you big bucks are coming my way!

Last Game

Chris had his last baseball game yesterday. Since our team is so good we had to let the other team bat one more time then us because their coach wanted all of his kids to bat three times for the last game. During this last half an inning Chris was able to play the coveted catcher position.

The very first game of the season was in April during our heatwave. Chris was absolutely miserable and when the coach told him he was playing catcher Chris started crying. He didn't want to put anything on that would make him hotter.

It was a 7:00 game, which I personally think is really late for 5 and 6 year old kids.

We showed up at the field and the game before us had not ended yet. Chris hung his bat on the backstop and went to warm up with his team. Well, from warm-ups they went straight into their positions on the field. I noticed that Chris's bat disappeared. When I informed Chris he went over to the other team to retrieve his bat. Since Chris's name was not on his bat they would not give it to him. As I was paying attention to a new baby I did not notice that Chris didn't come back with his bat. Fast forward to the third inning. The teams are switching positions and the other team's coach tells Chris that they have his bat. So he walks over and they still won't give it to him. (Torture to a 5 year old, even worse for a tired 5 year old) He runs across the field and I can tell he is about to cry. So I take him back to get his bat. Ultimately I get into an argument with another parent about having Chris's bat. I told a little white lie that I actually watched the bat come to their dugout while the kids were warming up. Well, they still decided that they were going to keep his bat hostage until the end of the game. I guess someone suddenly started to feel guilty because after one batter they decided to return his bat. (I had a sharpie in the car and put his name on the bat before we even left the field....but it was the last game)

Then another little boy on our team got sent off the field. He was playing shortstop and when the base runner ran by he threw dirt in the kids eyes. His mom said "This is what happens after his bedtime, he turns evil." She made him sit on the bench until the team came in to bat and then took him home.

My last example of why games should not be at 7:00. One of our players is running towards home plate. The catcher has the ball and our kid decides that he is going to slide to try and beat the tag. As he goes down the catcher smacks him in the face with the glove. Our kids knocks the ball loose, slides through the catchers legs and then smacks his head on the ground. (This is T-ball, right?) He gets up and is smiling and giving high fives like he just won the game for his team. Even the coaches are telling him how amazing the play was. Well, after he makes his way over to his mom, sits in her lap and just starts crying.

Maybe with a year under his belt next years 7:00 games will go better. I doubt it though since he will still be with the same age group. Getting home at 9:00 is just too late!

Little Hands

Could this be why my camera is being temperamental lately? I guess it could be from the sand too when I took it to the beach. Either way, it is going to Best Buy to get fixed.

I didn't take this picture. That means Chris was in on the action too since there are more pictures taken by Ryan following this one!

Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day

What a great day we had yesterday. My parents came up and we went to the airshow. Unfortunately my camera is being temperamental. It did not decide to work until we were waiting in line to take a shuttle back to our car.

We came home, had dinner and celebrated Ken's birthday. We tried to hurry and get my parents out of our house but it didn't work out according to plan. We had to wait an hour for the shuttle and then with the new charcol grill my parents bought for Ken more time to heat the coals. They didn't wind up leaving our house until 8:00! It was a fun day though.

Notice the store bought cake! This is the first year that Ken has not had cupcakes for his birthday. We came back from the shore Thursday. Friday Chris had a doctor's appointment and a baseball game. Saturday Chris had a birthday party, baseball game and then we were going to head to the airshow. I didn't even think about the cupcakes until I set the cake in front of him. Saturday it rained most of the day too so the baseball game was canceled and we didn't go to the airshow! Oops. I guess I will make them for him next year.

8 Years Later

Tomorrow Ken and I will have been married for 8 years. With a different computer and way to many pictures on different disks I don't have the time or motivation to look for the picture I want to put up. Anyway, it was a picture of Ken and I sitting on my parents couch. He was wearing a Minnesota Vikings shirt and I was wearing an Eagles shirt. We watched the game together and of course the Eagles won! Imagine that?

So anyhow, it has taken a few years but Ken has finally seen the light. He now currently has an Eagles sweatshirt, Eagles pajamas, a Flyers jersey, Flyers shirt, Flyers sweatshirt and a few Phillies shirts. Once you start rooting for Philly you just realize how much fun it is!

Catch A Wave

and you're sitting on top of the world.

The saying is a picture says a thousand words. I am not sure if this picture says a thousand words but it says a lot.
1. Lots of waves = wind
2. No one in the water = cold water
3. Lots of clouds = no sun
So....wind + cold water + clouds = cold, cold, cold!
It was about 65 degrees this day and these 4 boys were crazy enough to get in the water!

By the way, we were lucky enough to be invited to spend 4 days at Kim's beach house, in Ocean City, NJ.

These next two pictures also say a lot about our visit. 2 moms + 4 boys =

complete silliness and craziness the entire 4 days!!!!

Come One, Come All

Now I know that it is not a picture of Jesus on a piece of toast....but I think it is pretty impressive anyway.

Can you guess what it is from this picture? Look closely.

It's a fish made out of foaming soap on his hand!

I wish I could have gotten a better picture because it truly looked like a fish. Ryan was washing his hands and didn't rinse them all the way. He came screaming down the stairs "Mom, fish. Mom, look fish." He must have said it 10 times before I got to him to see what he was talking about.

Then I was the greatest mom ever. He was so proud of that fish so I took a couple pictures and then told him to rinse his hands because it was time for breakfast! Poor kid. He couldn't admire his fish for long.

The Patio is Finished

We came home from Chris's baseball game on Monday to an almost finished patio. They still needed to put the dirt around the edges. So we enjoyed our dinner on the patio.

Yesterday it rained so today is the first day that we were really able to see the patio dry in the daylight. I love it.

As you can see we still have some extra pavers in our grass and a bobcat. So they are not quite finished yet.

Why Travel to Wisconsin?

For the cheese?
-maybe

For the beer?
-sure

For the Packers?
-Definitely not!

For Amy's wedding?
DEFINITELY!

Ken and I were lucky enough to travel to Wisconsin to watch Amy get married this weekend. Everything about the evening was perfect. She was beautiful, her mom was beautiful, her dad was dashing and her brother was handsome. Her groom looked at her with nothing but love in his eyes the entire night!

The best part of the story....Her dad (Scott) went to visit his dad and Scott was able to bring home three rings from his dad's second wife. Scott and Karen (Amy's mom) decided that they wanted Amy to have one of the rings as her wedding band. They approached Peter (Amy's groom) with the idea and he had not bought a wedding band yet. The best part of the story was that Amy's engagement ring had sapphires in it and all of the rings Scott brought home had sapphires and diamonds in them. It worked out perfect! Amy was able to receive a family treasure that matched her engagement ring! I think it is an absolutely beautiful story!

Unfortunately all of my pictures came out orange. I had to go to an online picture editor to try and fix them the best I could. They still are nothing to scream about but you can still see how wonderful everything was...
(I tried to share all the pictures on Facebook but they all came out small. So I decided to post all of them here too.)

Class Picnic

Today was Chris's class picnic. Tomorrow is his last day of school!

Each year the students make something for their parents. This is the flower pot I received from Chris.

Inside the bag the flower came in there was a card that he made. So sweet.

They must have worked on the card more then one day because the handwriting is so different on the back. It almost looks like he was just trying to hurry and finish the project and then on the back it looks like he was concentrating.

I figure I better post the card because I am going to have a house full of artwork from the kids if I keep everything. I think I already have 4 cards in Chris's file!

The Patio

The guys came today to start our patio. I am so excited and really hope it looks nice.

So far they only have the stairs done.
