Today we went to the pool at the YMCA. Ken told Chris he was going to take the swim test to swim in the deep end. Chris was a little hesitant but didn't want to say no to his daddy. So he got in the pool and passed!!!!!
I was excited and Ken was excited. Chris acted like it wasn't a big deal. Well, I played in the shallow end with Ryan while Chris and Dad played in the deep end. After a while Chris swam over to me and started jumping up and down in the water and screamed that he passed the swim test.
I am still so excited for him. He is back to acting like it is not a big deal again though.

That's awesome. We tried all last summer to pass the swim test. The kids could swim the length of the pool, but they couldn't last the whole minute of treading water afterwards. They were strict, if they even leaned their heads backwards they failed. He must be so excited!
Chris couldn't pass that test either. At the YMCA here he had to swim the width of the pool and back without stopping. They usually make the kids tread water for about 10 seconds in the middle of their swim, but they didn't make Chris.
Passing the test though really gave him a ton of self confidence!
